Trump posted on his social media account, Truth Social, 'Vote for Trump! Bitcoin mining may be the last line of defense against Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC). Biden's dislike of Bitcoin only helps China, Russia, and the Radical Communist Left. All remaining Bitcoin should be American Made.'

In recent years, bitcoin mining has flourished in China, European countries, and countries with low electricity costs, such as Ethiopia and Tanzania. In addition, American bitcoin miners are in a difficult position due to President Joe Biden's proposal to impose a 30% electricity tax on bitcoin miners. However, Trump seems to want American bitcoin mining companies to use local resources to carry out mining.

The trigger for this post is believed to be a one-and-a-half hour meeting that Trump held on June 11, 2024, with about 12 executives and experts from bitcoin mining companies. According to Riot Platforms CEO Jason Les, during the meeting, Trump noted that Bitcoin has reached an all-time high since the beginning of 2024 and argued that 'America should be number one in the bitcoin market.'

According to participants, Trump also showed a strong interest in the topic of 'how Bitcoin mining can help solve America's energy shortage problem.' Amanda Fabiano, a Bitcoin miner, explained to Trump that 'encouraging the growth of the Bitcoin mining industry will bring many benefits, including strengthening the power grid and creating jobs in local cities.'

David Bailey, CEO of BTC , which organized the meeting, said, 'This meeting is part of a larger push to help Donald Trump get back in the White House. We in the Bitcoin mining industry intend to make Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies a defining issue in the 2024 presidential election, and are committed to raising $100 million and reaching more than 5 million voters to help re-elect Trump.'

Trump has previously reportedly discussed cryptocurrency policy with Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
