Former assistant Bev Stoll has expressed her desire to be left alone, saying, 'Please do not try to contact Noam or his family.'

Stoll served as Chomsky's assistant at MIT for 24 years until his retirement in 2017, and published a book about his time as an assistant, 'Chomsky and Me: A Memoir,' in 2023.

According to a post by Stoll on the social bulletin board site Reddit, Chomsky, who turns 95 in December 2023, has little time or energy to devote to interviews and writing, and is unable to respond to numerous requests for comment.
For this reason, Stoll asked people not to contact Norm or his family.

According to testimony from his wife, Valeria, published by Folha De S.Paulo, a daily newspaper in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where the Chomskys have lived since 2015, Chomsky suffered a stroke in June 2023, was transported to the hospital by medical jet and admitted to the intensive care unit.
Chomsky, who is hospitalized, is said to have difficulty speaking as his right side is affected, but his health does not appear to be bad. He checks the New York Times website almost every day and makes a gesture of 'grief and defiance' with his left hand whenever he sees news about Gaza.
