IKEA is recruiting 'in-game employees' at an hourly rate of about 2,600 yen



IKEA, a major Swedish furniture manufacturer, has announced that it will open a virtual store on the gaming platform

Roblox is an online gaming platform where users can create their own games and play and interact with other users. Roblox has gained the support of many users and boasts an astounding popularity of over 200 million monthly active users as of June 2024 .

This time, IKEA has announced a project called 'The Co-Worker Game' that will open a store in this Roblox virtual space from June 24, 2024 and recruit employees to work there. IKEA says, 'The Co-Worker Game's immersive experience gives players the opportunity to experience a unique approach to an IKEA career.'

IKEA's job advertisement reads, 'Join us as you move through departments, demonstrate your skills and advance through the ranks.' Employees in 'The Co-Worker Game' will be given roles such as helping customers choose furniture to purchase online or serving meatballs in a virtual restaurant.



The recruitment period for employees is from June 3 to June 16, 2024, and shortlisted applicants will have virtual interviews between June 14 and June 18, 2024. Employees who pass the final selection and actually start working will be paid an hourly wage of 13.15 pounds (about 2,600 yen).
