The new appliances supported by Matter 1.3 include microwave ovens, ovens,

cooktops , range hoods , laundry dryers, etc. By supporting Matter, these IoT appliances will be able to perform basic functions such as turning the power on and off, as well as control lighting, adjust output levels, and check the life status of filters.

Matter 1.3 also introduces a new 'Energy Reporting' feature to make it easier to understand your energy usage, providing real-time actual and estimated values for power, voltage, current and more for any type of device, as well as the ability to see how much energy is consumed or generated over time.

In addition, new features have been added, such as the ability to manually start or stop charging of electric vehicles and adjust the charging rate, as well as management functions for water leak and freeze detectors and rain sensors, and the connection environment with televisions has also been improved.

There have been some other updates, but technology media The Verge is skeptical, saying, 'Most manufacturers don't even support Matter 1.2, so no one

knows when or where Matter 1.3 will be supported. What's the point of a protocol that no one can use?'

'We look forward to seeing products that bring new capabilities to users through Matter. With the release of version 1.3, Matter continues to expand its footprint across the smart home industry and IoT ecosystem,' said the Connectivity Standards Alliance, which develops Matter.
