According to a statement from Stability AI, the reason for Mostak's resignation is 'to pursue decentralized AI.'

Effective immediately, Chief Operating Officer Xiang Xiang Wong and Chief Technology Officer Christian Laforte have been appointed interim co-CEOs, with permanent CEO roles to build the foundation for Stability AI and lead it into its next phase of growth. The search has begun.

Mr. Mostak also posted on X (formerly Twitter), ``The most important thing in AI is not the GPU, but coordination and governance. We need to decentralize AI before it's too late.''
