Just after 6pm on Tuesday, January 2nd, Japan Airlines Flight 516 from New Chitose, Hokkaido burst into flames at Haneda Airport . It is reported that the plane collided with a Japan Coast Guard aircraft before takeoff. The Japan Coast Guard aircraft that made contact was said to be on its way to send supplies to Niigata Air Base in response to the Noto earthquake .

Japan Airlines announced on the 2nd that all of the 367 passengers on board, including eight babies, had evacuated. However, the status of the injury is still being confirmed.
