In the AI hardware market, NVIDIA, which provides AI platforms and tools, holds a large share. While AI technology is making remarkable progress, the demand for NVIDIA GPUs is increasing worldwide, and there is a shortage of supply.

CEO Huang met with Prime Minister Kishida at the Prime Minister's Office in Japan on December 4, 2023. CEO Huang told reporters that Prime Minister Kishida had asked him to ``supply as many GPUs as possible,'' adding, ``The demand for GPUs is very high, but we are prioritizing Japan's requirements for GPUs. I promised the Prime Minister that I would do my best.'

The Japanese government is rapidly advancing its semiconductor infrastructure rebuilding and AI strategy, and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry will allocate 2 trillion yen to support the development of semiconductors and generative AI in November 2023 in the FY2023 supplementary budget proposal. The plan has been announced. This 2 trillion yen budget will be used to attract semiconductor foundry TSMC to a factory and support Japanese semiconductor company Rapidus .

In his opening remarks at the meeting with Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Yasutoshi Nishimura, CEO Huang said, ``Japan has all the technical expertise and industrial capabilities to develop its own AI,'' and said that he is looking forward to working with Japanese companies. He said that he would partner with the two companies to build a network of semiconductor factories in Japan.

Huang also commented, ``Countries like Japan are realizing that they need to own their own data, build their own AI improvements, and generate their own AI.''
