Lenovo , a major PC manufacturer, has filed a lawsuit in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, claiming that the notebook PC of Taiwanese PC manufacturer ASUS infringes the patent, seeking suspension of sales and compensation for damages.

In a complaint filed in court on November 15, 2023 (PDF file) , Lebovo claims that some products sold by ASUS, such as the notebook PCs ' Zenbook Pro 14 OLED ' and ' Vivobook Flip 14 TM420 ,' It alleges that it infringes a patent issued to Lenovo in 2013.

Lenovo says, ``As a result of past and continuing patent infringement by ASUS, Lenovo has suffered irreparable harm and will continue to suffer harm in the future if ASUS continues to sell.''

In addition, Lenovo said, ``ASUS' share of the PC market in the third quarter of 2023 is approximately 7.1%, which is lower than Lenovo's share of approximately 23.5%, so even if some measures are taken against ASUS, There will be no negative impact on consumers or market competition.'

Lenovo says about this lawsuit, ``ASUS filed a lawsuit against Lenovo in August 2023 related to mobile phone technology.For Lenovo, the lawsuit was a last resort.'' .



Lenovo has not commented on this lawsuit. ASUS also declined to comment due to the pending litigation.
