Windows Central's Zach Borden reported, ``Information obtained from sources'' that Microsoft is expected to introduce Microsoft Copilot to Windows 10 in an update scheduled to be released soon.

Once the update is applied, a Microsoft Copilot button will be added to the Windows 10 taskbar just like Windows 11, and clicking the button will open Microsoft Copilot in the sidebar.

According to Borden, Microsoft's plan is aimed at market share.

The number of devices running Windows 11 is expected to exceed 400 million as of October 2023, and reach 500 million by spring 2024.

However, while Windows 11 has an OS share of about 24%, Windows 10 still has a share of about 72%. In terms of number of devices, Windows 10 is still running on 1 billion devices.

Borden points out that Microsoft has determined that this 1 billion units is a scalable market for Microsoft Copilot. Rather than saying, ``Microsoft Copilot is used on 400 million devices,'' ``Microsoft Copilot is used on 1.4 billion devices'' may be a more effective advertising slogan to encourage plug-in development.

Microsoft Copilot, which is scheduled to be introduced in Windows 10, is expected to be functionally similar to what is included in Windows 11.
