In the medical field, handwritten notes and texts are often scanned and stored, but searching through such unstructured data can be difficult and important information can be missed. In addition, data about patients is often stored across multiple systems, and knowing which data is related requires specialized clinical knowledge, reducing administrative costs and manpower. It was a huge burden in terms of securing the necessary supplies.

To address these issues, Google announced the introduction of new features for healthcare professionals using generative AI to Vertex AI Search. With new features in Vertex AI Search, for example, if a doctor wants to know a patient's medical history, instead of reading notes, faxes, or electronic medical records, they can ask, ``What medications has this patient taken in the past 12 months?'' ?” and relevant data will be displayed.

The functionality announced this time for medical professionals is an expansion of Vertex AI Search's existing ability to search data sources such as documents and external websites, and allows users to link to original data within their organization. It is possible to reduce the risk of AI generating random information.

Vertex AI Search's new features for healthcare professionals are available for early access starting October 9, 2023.

In addition, we have been conducting tests in cooperation with some medical institutions even before early access became available, and various use cases have already been introduced as shown below, so if you are interested, please check them out.
