I walked around the main venue of 'Pokemon GO Fest 2023: Osaka' - Expo Commemoration Park

The major 'Pokémon GO' event, ' Pokémon GO Fest 2023: Osaka ,'

will be held from August 4th to 6th, 2023 , so we went to see what kind of Pokémon decoration the main area, Expo Commemoration Park, will have.

There is a special gate to the right of the main gate of the Expo Commemoration Park, where event participants can enter by showing the 'medal' displayed on the game screen. Therefore, there is no admission fee to the Expo Commemoration Park.

At 'Pokémon GO Fest 2023: Osaka', Expo Commemoration Park is divided into four areas. The southwest side of the park is the 'Fairy Garden'.

Many people stopped in the shade of trees to catch Pokemon.

Some people were even seen playing the game while riding in

the park taxi that runs around the park.

There were photo panels set up at Momijigawa Lawn Square.

A 'Fairy Garden' object was set up in the center of the square.

Across the Momiji River from the 'Fairy Garden' is the 'Dark Jungle.'

In the part of the plaza where there were few trees, many people gathered in the shade of the few trees, creating an oasis-like atmosphere.

In this area too, objects were placed around trees.

There was a rest zone equipped with mist-spraying fans.

An internet connection is required to play 'Pokemon GO.' As many people were expected to attend the event, various telecommunications companies deployed mobile base station vehicles. This is SoftBank.

As we walked north from the 'Dark Jungle,' we came across the West Main Street to the 'Ice Plains.' However, the sunlight on the Ice Plains side was strong along the West Main Street, so many people gathered in the shade of the trees on the 'Dark Jungle' side.

There were also food trucks set up around here.

Across the Water Cow Pond, we could see the Tower of the Sun and the OSAKA WHEEL.

This is au's mobile base station vehicle. Among the three major carriers, au seems to have the fewest vehicles deployed.

Vending machine. It seems like they prioritize sales of 500ml plastic bottled drinks, and there were times when only small canned drinks were left even after putting money in.

In that case, Ito En will have a tent store set up so you can purchase chilled tea.

The cash registers were divided into those for cash payments only and those for PayPay payments only, and the prices were about the same as at convenience stores, with a 500ml plastic bottle of green tea and a 600ml plastic bottle of barley tea costing 150 yen.

The maximum temperature on this day is 36 degrees. It is dangerous to neglect to drink water.

Basically, there are no default Pokestops in the Expo Commemoration Park, but several Pokestops were set up for the event, and Pokestop objects were placed to indicate their locations. You can also charge your devices at the objects.

We arrived at the 'Ice Plains.' On the left is the National Museum of Ethnology.

I thought it was some kind of objet d'art installed for an event, but it turned out to be an artwork that was originally placed in this location. It was a sculpture called 'Sky' by British artist

Philip King .

A photography panel set up on the north bank of 'Daichi Pond.'

And in front of the National Museum of Ethnology there is an 'Ice Plains' object.

I walked around the object in a circle.

This is not a Pokemon but Myakumyaku, the official character of the Osaka Kansai Expo.

There was a flag reading 'Volcanic Island' near the main roof.

The information desk and technical support tent was set up in the 'Lower Plaza.'

Itoen & Softbank tents. Softbank was selling mobile batteries, charging cables, '

Pokemon GO Plus + ', and more.

First aid rooms were set up in multiple locations throughout the venue.

Another SoftBank mobile base station vehicle.

It was designed to be Pokemon GO-like.

A booth distributing free water and barley tea. The water wasn't cold, but the barley tea was 600ml, which was good for preventing heatstroke.

Next to the '

EXPO'70 Pavilion ', which occupies the former Steel Museum, is an NTT Docomo mobile base station vehicle.

A photo panel for 'Volcanic Island' in the east plaza.

There was a trading area set up in the square. However, since Pokemon trading is not prohibited in other areas, people could be seen trading Pokemon here and there.

A volcano set up in the square.

There is an entrance, but you can't go through it.

There is free Wi-Fi provided by KDDI (au) near the volcano.

Apparently, they are introducing antennas for corporate users of Starlink. I saw these antennas in multiple locations.

There are two types of event tickets: 'First half: Expo Commemoration Park, second half: Osaka City and Suita City' and 'First half: Osaka City and Suita City, second half: Expo Commemoration Park'. For example, if you go to Expo Commemoration Park in the evening with a 'First half: Expo Commemoration Park' ticket, nothing special will happen. For this reason, a large amount of people will move around when it is time to switch places.

I came across a manhole with a MyakuMyaku design while walking around with people.

A line of people passes by the Tower of the Sun and heads toward the exit.

Instead, the line heading towards Expo Commemoration Park was also huge.

There was a long queue coming from the Osaka Monorail station in the back.

After this, we will also report on our visits to places other than Expo Commemoration Park.

I've seen a lot of things other than the Expo Memorial Park at 'Pokemon GO Fest 2023: Osaka', including a huge 4m real Pokestop - GIGAZINE
