Review of 'SAO', 'Uma Musume', 'Romance of the Three Kingdoms', 'FFBE', and 'Weikole' on the large screen of your PC using 'Google Play Games'

The beta version of ' Google Play Games ', which allows you to play game apps designed for Android devices on your PC, has finally been announced for Japan. In addition to some of the games already released, major titles such as 'Uma Musume: Pretty Derby' and 'FFBE Phantom War: WAR OF THE VISIONS' can now be played on PC, so I tried installing it to see what it's like.

To play Google Play Games, you must meet several prerequisites , such as having a Windows 10 (v2004) OS and Intel UHD Graphics 630 or equivalent.

To install it, first access Google Play Games on your PC. Click on the part that says 'Download the beta version.'

Double-click the downloaded file to run it.

The installation will start, so please wait for a while.

When you see the message 'Welcome to Google Play Games,' click 'Sign in with Google.'

A browser will open, so enter the email address of your Google account and click 'Next'.

Enter your password and click 'Next'.

You will be prompted to 'Please verify that you downloaded this app from Google,' so click 'Log in.' Once you've logged in, you will be returned to Google Play Games.

Check your profile and click 'OK'.

The terms of use will be displayed, so click 'Agree'.

Click “Finish”.

The home screen of Google Play Games looks like this. Popular games such as 'Uma Musume Pretty Derby' are displayed one after another at the top, and other games are lined up at the bottom.

The icons in the center left of the screen are 'Home', 'Library', and 'All Games' from the top. When I clicked 'All Games' to check what games were available, I found games such as 'Uma Musume', 'Romance of the Three Kingdoms: Road to Power' and 'Sword Art Online: Integral Factor'. Google Play Games does not have a search function.

First, try playing 'Sword Art Online Integral Factor'. Tap 'Install'.

Installation takes about 10 seconds. Tap 'Play' to start playing.

You can see how to start 'Sword Art Online Integral Factor' below.

Actually playing. Sword Art Online: Integral Factor is nicely optimized for PC, and in addition to using the mouse to move the viewpoint and the WASD keys to move, you can use the keyboard to perform various operations, such as normal attacks with the E key, interactions with the Tab key, and opening the map with the M key. Of the games I played this time, this was the only one that accepted detailed operations using the keyboard.

In addition, effects are displayed where you click with the mouse, making it easy to see where you clicked. Controls using the mouse and keyboard are simple and refreshing, and it was as easy to play as if it was a PC game from the beginning.

Next time I'll play 'Uma Musume Pretty Derby'.

This game does not support keyboard input, and you can only use mouse clicks to tap. However, unlike Sword Art Online: Integral Factor, which requires precise operation in real time, this is a training simulation game, so I didn't find it particularly inconvenient.

Being able to play gacha on a PC is a very refreshing feeling.

This time I played 'Sangokushi Hadou'. In addition to selecting with mouse clicks, I was able to zoom in and out of the map with the scroll wheel.

It seems that you can choose the same server as for the Android version.

This is not limited to this game, but most social games have long tutorials. It's very convenient to be able to replace the multiple taps with clicks.

Next, I played 'FFBE Phantom War WAR OF THE VISIONS'.

Playing on a screen that is much larger than a smartphone seems to reduce the risk of making small operational mistakes.

Finally, I tried playing 'eFootball WeiColle CHAMPION SQUADS'.

This game is designed to be played on a smartphone, and all the controls can be completed with simple taps. There are few benefits to playing it on a PC.

Most smartphone games are designed to be easy to play, so light games with auto-battles and the like may not be a good fit for the PC style of playing, where you sit down and play. On the other hand, action games and simulation games that require precise control seem to match the PC play style.

Google Play Games is still in beta, and more games and new features will be added in the future.
