``GIGAZINE Manga Award'' Recruitment started in February 2023 & I made a manga announcement banner

The GIGAZINE Manga Award is closed every month and is being recruited by monthly review, so the serialization will be decided as soon as the next month of application. ◆ Manga announcement banner making
From around the fall of 2022, GIGAZINE has been distributing banners for serialized manga on the site. Previously, I published a rough procedure along with the data of what kind of banner is displayed, but I tried to explain more concrete making while creating the actual banner to be distributed.

This time, we will create an announcement banner for the manga ' Secret Palace '. First, we analyzed the data because we have distributed announcement banners in the past. The following images were distributed in the past, with the left being ``Pattern A that cuts out the important scene of the first episode'' and the right being ``Important scene leading to the latest story + Aori sentence pattern B''. We have made 3 of each size. When we analyzed the 'click rate' here, we found that 'Pattern B gets more clicks' regardless of the size, although the difference is slight. Therefore, let's create a new banner assuming that ``Aori sentence that makes you want to read the work'' is effective.

Next, search the manga library for scenes that can be used as banner materials. The manga library can be accessed by registering with the GIGAZINE Secret Club (GSC) , and you can always read back all the manga posted on GIGAZINE in the past for free, or narrow down by title to find works and episodes you want to read. Possible. This time, narrow down by 'secret palace' and access the second part of episode 4.

The following two pictures caught my attention. On the left is a shocking scene where the character, who could only be seen as a human, is vividly identified as an android. We will create a banner based on these two.

Banner images are created using

Adobe Photoshop . First, after creating canvases of three different sizes with the ' artboard ' function, prepare 'manga images', 'buttons to be clicked', 'tilt text', and 'text windows' to use as materials.

This time, the banner emphasizes the text rather than the image, so the required text and the bottom right button are placed first, and then the image is added. After that, change the content of the text and adjust the dialogue of the image to finish the appearance of the banner.

Changed the color of the button to make it stand out while harmonizing with the background color. This time, I chose a bright yellow color that matches the hair color of the two characters that make up most of the banner, but also doesn't overlap with the green of the uniform behind the button. Finally, set the magnification that was expanded for work to '100%' and make fine adjustments while checking whether the characters can be read at the actual display size.

Follow the same procedure to create two types of horizontal banners. Although it is difficult to change from a square banner to a horizontal banner, we place importance on splitting up the images and adjusting the content of the text so that the content we want to convey can be fully conveyed. I'm here.

The created banner can be exported as an image by selecting 'File from Artboard' from 'Export' of 'File'.

The following three banners were written. A simple manga banner is created by placing text and buttons on a manga page as a material. In addition, if you have any

Stage 1: Evaluation in a closed environment that can only be viewed by GIGAZINE secret club members + Evaluation including making materials by the editorial department

Stage 2: Judging after adding necessary items such as 'first episode manuscript' and 'plot up to the final episode' in a format that is more conscious of serialization. At the stage where we have made it this far, we promise to serialize in some form or another.

Final stage: In the serialized manuscript, the editor-in-chief of GIGAZINE + evaluation by members of the GIGAZINE secret club + guests such as authors serialized in GIGAZINE will be judged comprehensively to determine the grand prize winner. In addition, we will guarantee the serialization when it remains in the final stage.

Everyone who passed the first screening and was selected for the first stage:
Prize money 30,000 yen

Advance to the second stage:
Additional prize money of 20,000 yen + editorial charge for serialization

Finalists:
Additional prize money of 50,000 yen (total of 100,000 yen) at the time of advancing to the final stage + commitment to serialize after brushing up the submitted work

After posting in serial form on GIGAZINE, we will convert it into an e-book and sell it on Amazon. We will pay the prescribed manuscript fee and royalty. GIGAZINE is also responsible for selling and advertising e-books.

◆ Application for drawing, name composition, drawing help

・ How to apply for “drawing only”:
All you have to do is show us your portfolio URL and collection of works on the Manga Award application form . In the 'Others' column, please write 'Apply for drawing only'. There is no limit on the number of illustrations and manga for portfolios, and there is no line that says you need more than one, but the more you have, the easier it is to get a good evaluation.

・ How to apply for 'Name Composition Manager'
We are also looking for a 'name composition' that uses the original script of the text as the name. As with drawings only, please send as much as possible about your portfolio, titles of works you have created in the past, and manga works.

・Judging flow for “drawing only” and “name composition”:
We will contact you by the next month after submitting the form for the works that have passed the first stage screening after looking at the portfolio, so we will ask you to actually draw a trial original in the second stage screening, and after passing the final stage voting screening. to.

・Reward:

In addition, it is also OK to create original works and propose them to the editor while earning money and improving skills while participating as a helper.

・Reward :
Hourly wages are calculated with work management software for 'coloring help' and 'background help'. The hourly wage will be set as a trial period at first, and then increased depending on the work proficiency and the number of contributions.
In the case of 'name structure', the manuscript fee is calculated per page.

◆Original script application requirements

・In addition to the first episode manuscript , please prepare the plot (synopsis) from the first episode to the final episode . For the synopsis, please describe the flow of the entire work in detail on the first page of the manuscript in 100 to 800 characters.

・In the first judging, we will look at the fun of a simple story and the completeness of one story. If you proceed from the second screening to the final screening, we will judge whether you can consistently create a storyline script up to the final episode, with an awareness of actually creating a manga original.

・If you are applying for 'original only' and text only, please paste the text into a Google document and then write the address of the shared link on the application form. In that case, please do not edit the document after applying.

・Make sure your Google sharing settings are set to 'Anyone with the link'. If you leave it as 'restricted', you will not be able to read the submitted work. For more information, check 'Share files publicly' in Google Docs Help .

・Reward:
