Wells, who lives in San Diego, California and works in Meta's augmented reality and virtual reality department, has signed a contract to live on board the luxury cruise ship MV Narrative for 12 years. The ship has 547 private cabins and a range of facilities and services, from medical services to a private kitchen, supermarket, exercise center, 24-hour room service and co-working space.

Although Mr. Wells loves to travel, he doesn't like long flights or unstable routines, so he thought a cruise ship would alleviate those frustrations. Mr. Wells said, ``The biggest point is that you don't have to change your daily life to travel the world.'' The style will change to traveling the world with stores and dentists.'

Meta's augmented reality and virtual reality department, where Mr. Wells works, has a fully remote work system, so he can continue working from anywhere in the world. 'My work hours shift from evening to night to early morning,' says Wells. 'I can travel from midday to afternoon to cities around the world and start work around 6 or 7 p.m.' says.

MV Narrative is under construction at the time of article creation, and sailing is scheduled for 2025. Most of the private rooms are rented out as long-term rental housing, and it seems that a 24-year lease contract or a 60-year contract, which is the life of the ship, is required. Rental costs will be up to $8 million (approximately 1 billion yen).

Because Mr. Wells was an early customer, he was offered a special 12-year contract option. The entry-level room signed by Mr. Wells comes with a desk, fold-out bed, shower room, etc., is 237 square feet (approximately 22 square meters), and the 12-year rental fee is approximately $300,000 (approximately $4,000). 10,000 yen). The cost is approximately 3,330,000 yen per year, or approximately 278,000 yen per month, but an all-inclusive option that includes meals at the ship's restaurants and bars, laundry, health checkups, etc. costs an additional 2,100 dollars (approximately 278,000 yen per month). 9,000 yen) will be charged.

There are 11 types of residences on board, the largest of which is a 1,970-square-foot, two-story structure with up to four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a balcony, a dining room, and a walk-in. It is said to have a closet. Public spaces will include an observation lounge and event space, 20 restaurants and bars, a 24-hour gym and spa, three swimming pools, a school, library, bank, office space, and a theater for theater and film screenings. It's a schedule.

MV Narrative is different from other cruise ships in that it anchors in one location for about 3 to 5 days. It is expected that most people will go to regional cities for day trips or overnight trips, while others will rent a car, go for three or four days, and meet the ship at their next destination. The ship will travel around the world for about three years, visiting various cities such as Rome, Naples, Venice, Slovenia, Albania, Croatia, Greece, and Turkey.

Mr. Wells is the youngest of the residents, and the residents range from middle-aged businessmen to families with children. 'We hope to make lifelong friends on board,' said Wells. 'Our goal is to build a community of residents on this ship. We will make new friends and travel the world with them. You may form some of the deepest friendships you'll ever have.'
