It turns out that political phrases such as ``Tiananmen Incident'' and ``Revolution'' are blocked by Chinese image generation AI that is strong in two-dimensional characters

It has been pointed out that the image generation AI `` ERNIE-ViLG '' developed by Baidu, a major IT company in China, incorporates a censorship mechanism that blocks many words. Blocks include the names of political leaders such as President Xi Jinping and words that are treated as sensitive in China, such as 'Tiananmen Incident.'

There are multiple image generation AIs such as 'DALL E2', 'Midjourney', and 'Stable Diffusion', but each of them does not generate any image without limitation. For example, DALL E2 has restrictions on nudity, violence, and political content due to Open AI's content policy, and news site Ars Technica reports that Midjourney has some content filtered.

'ERNIE-ViLG' is considered to have been trained with a large number of anime images, and is known to be particularly strong in generating moe images such as animation. Verification using a demo points out that words such as 'revolution' are blocked.

However, it is possible to use words such as 'democracy' alone.

It is unknown whether this censorship was regulated by the Chinese government or voluntarily to avoid government pressure.
