The cloud gaming service 'Xbox Cloud Gaming' developed by Microsoft has been in beta in several countries including Japan, and you can easily play hundreds of types of games without a dedicated game machine. Users who have played this service in a Linux environment have reported that 'the image quality is lower than when playing on Windows.'

According to Spiritual-Ad2806, a user of the communication site Reddit, he noticed that playing Xbox Cloud Gaming on Linux (Ubuntu or Manjaro) resulted in lower image quality than playing on Windows.

So Spiritual-Ad2806 decided to use Microsoft Edge's extension that can change the user agent and try to access Xbox Cloud Gaming under the guise of Windows 10 even in a Linux environment. As a result, the image quality was clearly improved after switching the user agent to Windows rather than accessing it as it is in the Linux environment.

Spiritual-Ad2806 posted the image on Reddit and commented, 'I don't know how much the image quality will be degraded at the time of posting, but you'll notice the big difference, especially Linux is very blurry.' .. Spiritual-Ad2806 also reports that, on the contrary, trying out Linux on Windows resulted in a significant drop in quality.

Another user reported similar results to Spiritual-Ad2806, and gardotd426 was confident that it was due to an encoding or decoding that wasn't supported by Chrome on Linux. On the Linux side, it was just decoding and not encoding, but Spiritual-Ad2806 hasn't even tried decoding, so this shouldn't matter . ' A speculative comment was also posted, saying, 'Microsoft may be saving bandwidth for mobile devices, and Linux may have been recognized as a mobile device.'
