Compact and lightweight film camera 'RETO Ultra wide & slim' that can be aimed at Instagram with super easy operation Appearance review & film set procedure summary --GIGAZINE

This time, I set 'RETO Ultra wide & slim' with Fujifilm's film ' Fujicolor 100 ' and Kodak's film ' Ultramax 400 ' and took pictures.

First of all, I set 'Fujicolor 100' and took a picture outdoors in the daytime. The overall color is dull, and the photo has a retro feel.

The flowers that were blooming in the riverbank are refreshing. The photos taken with 'RETO Ultra wide & slim' are characterized by darkened corners.

The focal length of 'RETO Ultra wide & slim' is 22mm, which allows you to shoot a wider range than the standard camera of a general smartphone. Therefore, it is suitable when you want to take a wide picture of the scenery.

I took a train to Umeda in Osaka. 'RETO Ultra wide & slim' has a focal length of 22 mm, a shutter speed of 1/125 second, and an f-number of 11, and the aperture and shutter speed are fixed, so the photo will be very dark indoors when the sun is not shining.

I took a picture of an intersection with a lot of traffic from a pedestrian bridge.

Photographed the famous takoyaki restaurant '

Hanadako ' located in Shin Umeda Shokudo-gai. After all, the pictures taken indoors will be dark.

The brightly illuminated show window looks clear.

I moved from Umeda to Shinsekai Hondori Shopping Street by train. You can see Tsutenkaku in the distance.

I approached Tsutenkaku and took a picture. Since 'RETO Ultra wide & slim' can shoot a wide range, it is possible to compose the whole even in a tall building like Tsutenkaku.

Photographed a takoyaki shop. It looked quite dark, probably because it was in the shadow of the building and the sunlight was blocked.

I took the takoyaki indoors and took it, but it was too dark to understand. When combining 'RETO Ultra wide & slim' and 'Fujicolor 100', it is recommended to shoot outdoors as bright as possible.

I ordered coffee and lettuce dock at Doutor and it was a snap. After all, it is difficult to capture indoor food beautifully with 'RETO Ultra wide & slim'.

I ran out of film when I shot coffee and lettuce dock, so I'll replace the film. When changing the film, the film must be rewound. First, press the rewind button on the bottom of the main unit ...

Turn the rewind knob in the direction of the arrow. If you turn the rewind knob insufficiently, the film will be exposed to light and all the pictures you take will turn white, so keep turning until you no longer hear a click.

After turning the rewind knob all the way, open the back and remove the film.

You can store the removed film in a film case.

Now that I've finished shooting with 'Fujicolor 100', I'll set 'Ultramax 400' and shoot. The 'Ultramax 400' has a higher

ISO sensitivity than the 'Fujicolor 100', so if you shoot under the same conditions as the 'Fujicolor 100', you can shoot the subject brightly. Choosing a film according to the conditions like this is a unique way to enjoy a film camera.

Waiting for the night, I went to shoot the Osaka specialty '

Doutonbori Glico Sign '. Only the signboard that emits light is clearly reflected, and the surrounding buildings are blacked out.

Since the brightness cannot be adjusted with 'RETO Ultra wide & slim', it is not possible to shoot the city at night brightly. However, bright signboards and the like are clearly captured, so depending on the subject, the picture may look impressive.

The information board at the station is refreshing. Information boards and fluorescent lights emerged in the dark space.

When I took pictures of various subjects from day to night, I found that I could take pictures with a retro atmosphere outdoors during the day, but I was not good at dark locations such as indoors and at night.

When you take a picture with a smartphone or digital camera, you can check the picture taken immediately, but on the other hand, you can take it again and again to improve the perfection of the picture, or upload it to SNS immediately, not the experience on the spot. It's easy to concentrate on the photo itself. On the other hand, with a film camera, there is no way to check the quality of a photo, so once you have taken the required number of photos, you can concentrate on the next thing. For this reason, I was able to concentrate on the purpose of eating and sightseeing instead of photography, and when I noticed this time, I walked 20,000 steps in half a day.

With 'RETO Ultra wide & slim', the shutter speed and aperture cannot be adjusted, so the shooting results tend to be affected by the weather and location. Because you can enjoy a different experience, it is highly recommended for those who want to start a film camera for the time being.

In addition, 'RETO Ultra wide & slim' is available at Amazon.co.jp for 3900 yen including tax at the time of article creation.
