This policy revision includes a wide range of items, including additional requirements for personal loan apps, restrictions on apps that contribute to hate speech, and restrictions on misleading expressions that appear to be official apps despite being informal. However, what is particularly talked about is the item related to the 'Accessibility API' that realizes call recording.

The Accessibility API entry states, 'The Accessibility API is not designed for voice recording of remote calls and cannot accept such requests.' With this policy revision, third-party call recording apps distributed in the Play Store will be virtually unusable.

According to XDA developers, a community site for developers, Google has abolished the official call recording API in Android 6.0 and banned unprivileged call recording apps in Android 9.0. Furthermore, it is said that there is a history of gradually tightening restrictions on call recording applications, such as completely prohibiting call recording via a microphone on Android 10. This Accessibility API was considered to be the last fort to realize call recording, but since the policy revision on May 11, 2022 will make it impossible for third-party call recording apps to use the Accessibility API, 'Third-party calls' The recording app has come to an end, 'says XDA developers.

In addition, this policy revision is irrelevant to call recording apps distributed in app stores other than Google Play store, and 'official call recording apps' such as those provided by Google and Xiaomi will continue to be used without problems. It is said that it can be continued.
