Henry & Partners, a British citizen group that also supports visa acquisition for foreigners, updated the 2021 edition of the World Passport Ranking on September 28, 2021. Passports are ranked numerically based on the data sent by IATA. The numerical evaluation of the passport is based on the assumption that 'one adult who has received the necessary vaccination will travel for a short stay for sightseeing or business purposes', and 'visa exemption or visa when entering the destination' If you can obtain an electronic travel authorization , add 1 point, and if you need to obtain a visa or a government-approved electronic visa in advance, add 0 points. Passports with higher points often do not require a visa, indicating that the passport of that country is more reliable. The target passports were 199 countries, and the target countries and regions were 227.

The results of the 2021 World Passport Ranking can be seen below.

Japan and Singapore ranked first, with a score of 192 points. Japan's passports have been ranked number one since 2018, and even in the 2020 ranking, they recorded number one with 191 points. Singapore, which ranks first at the same rate, was second in the 2020 ranking with 190 points.

Germany and South Korea ranked second with 190 points, Finland, Italy, Luxembourg and Spain with the same rate of 189 points, Austria and Denmark with 188 points, and France, Ireland, the Netherlands, Portugal and Sweden with 187 points. It was a point. Germany, which is in second place, is ranked first in the

2016 ranking.

The bottom five countries were Yemen (33 points), Pakistan (31 points), Syria (29 points), Iraq (28 points) and Afghanistan (26 points).

North Korea, which has the strictest travel restrictions around Japan, ranked 109th with 39 points.

Julerg Steffen, CEO of Henry & Partners, said 2021 was actually a year in which travel was severely restricted even in countries with high travel freedom due to the pandemic of the new coronavirus. Japan, which is ranked first in the passport reliability ranking and is considered to be the 'most travelable country', basically prohibits most foreigners who have recently stayed abroad as a countermeasure against the new coronavirus.

In addition, CEO Steffen argues that the longer the immigration restrictions due to pandemics, the greater the North-South problem, which is the problem of disparity between developed and developing countries, and measures to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus are under development. It also suggested that it may be used to prevent the influx of immigrants from the country to developed countries.
