Reported successful iPhone 12 Pro fishing from the bottom of the canal, using MagSafe
It's not uncommon for a smartphone in your hand to be submerged in a river or sea, but one man inadvertently submerged his iPhone 12 Pro in a canal and lost sight of it in the mud at the bottom. Since it was not found even after searching, it has been reported that the iPhone was successfully caught using a fishing rod with a magnet attached to the tip of the fishing line.
Something happened tonight. A friend of mine dropped his iPhone 12 Pro in the canal in Berlin. It disappeared in the mud. He waded through the 3ft deep water. No way to find it. But he found a Nintendo Switch instead.

On Saturday, May 29, 2021, a friend of app developer Frederick Riedel dropped the iPhone 12 Pro on a canal in Berlin. A friend tried to find the iPhone in the mud at the bottom of a canal about 1 meter deep, but it failed. However, it seems that Nintendo Switch was found instead of iPhone.
To rescue the iPhone, Riedel decided to try 'fishing' by taking advantage of the fact that the iPhone 12 Pro is equipped with a magnetic charging system 'MagSafe'. I made a fishing rod with a magnet attached to the tip of the fishing line and lowered the magnet into the canal.
The attempt was successful, and Riedel managed to catch the iPhone 12 Pro from the canal around 3 am. The iPhone I caught worked fine despite being submerged for hours, and the battery was almost fully charged.

It looks like you are actually picking up the rescued iPhone. The magnet is firmly attached to the back of the iPhone.
Yes, really. And it still works. Pic.twitter.com/gVNiLQhhpI

In addition, the above is not the first case where the iPhone was caught with a magnet and rescued from the water, and in March 2021 the position of the iPhone dropped in the lake was identified with a fish finder and it was caught with a magnet. Has been reported. The submerged iPhone was an iPhone 11 Pro without MagSafe, but the metal in the housing seems to have reacted to the magnet.
