chose to leave the EU. Furthermore, as of December 31, 2020, it was no longer covered by EU law. Due to this effect, the '.eu' domain, which requires the user to have a residence or citizenship in the EU member state or the legal entity to exist in the EU member state, is used by UK registrants. According to EURid, which manages '.eu', the domain entered a 'suspended' state on January 1, 2021 for all UK '.eu' domain registrars and domain registrants. Was notified by e-mail. Websites and emails will no longer be supported for domains that are 'frozen', but EURid said it could be restored by updating the domain registrant information.

This fact was not announced suddenly in 2021, but was announced in 2020.

It seems that one of the following three conditions should be met in order to get out of the 'frozen' state.

1: Declare a legally established entity in one of the 'EU27' (27 EU member states) or ' EEA (European Economic Area) ' member states
2: Declare that you live in either the 'EU27' or the 'EEA' member states
3: Declare citizenship of either 'EU27'

The 'freeze' period is until March 31, 2021, and if no action is taken during the period, it will shift to the 'with drawn' state on April 1, 2021. On January 1, 2022, all 'cancelled' domain names will be officially deleted and general registration will be possible.

According to ZDNet, many UK '.eu' domain owners have decided to move to another domain, and sites that use the '.eu' domain in the UK from 2018 to 2019. It is said that the number of was decreased by 46.7%.
