The unidentified animal ' Bigfoot ' that has been sighted in the Rocky Mountains and elsewhere in the United States is thought to be a giant-like animal that lives deep in the mountains. Documents from the analysis of Bigfoot by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in the United States have been made public under the Freedom of Information Act.

According to numerous sightings, Bigfoot is said to be about 2 to 3 meters tall, covered in hair, and a bipedal ape-like animal. There are also rumors that Bigfoot is a surviving ape-man or Gigantopithecus , but there is much controversy over its existence, and at the time of writing, it is treated as an unidentified animal.
According to newly released files by the FBI, in 1976, the FBI analyzed strange body hair that was thought to be Bigfoot's at the request of The Bigfoot Information Center and Exhibition (BIC). BIC is an organization that studies legendary animals and has been seriously studying the existence of Bigfoot and other creatures.

There was also a newspaper article from The New York Times posted.
'Please let me know if the FBI has any records of any previous analysis of hair samples that may belong to Bigfoot,' Peter Byrne, director of the Bigfoot Intervention Center, wrote to the FBI on August 26, 1976. 'I want you to understand that our work is serious. This is a serious question that needs to be answered.'
The FBI responded politely, saying that they had no record of ever analyzing hair from unidentified animals. Byrne then sent the FBI 15 hair and skin samples he believed to be from Bigfoot in a package. Since BIC's technology was unable to identify the samples, Byrne turned to the FBI for help.
The FBI responded to Byrne's actions by saying, 'The FBI Laboratory conducts investigations to provide physical evidence to law enforcement agencies in connection with criminal investigations,' which at first glance seemed to be a refusal to investigate. However, they went on to say, 'We sometimes make exceptions to this rule on a case-by-case basis for research or scientific investigations. Under these exceptions, we will examine samples for hair and tissue samples,' and that the FBI analyzed samples that may have been Bigfoot.
On February 24, 1977, FBI Assistant Director Jay Cochran reported the results of his investigation to the BIC. Cochran stated that after examining the hair samples using an optical microscope and other methods, it was concluded that the hair samples were from a 'certain species of deer.' Unfortunately, the samples were not from Bigfoot, but it seems that the FBI was serious about analyzing samples that could be Bigfoot.
