You can offset your health risk by exercising for a day or so even if you are living a sedentary life

In the modern day when desk work has become commonplace, many people should spend most of the day sitting. It is said that sedentary life inevitably leads to lack of exercise and also places a burden on the waist and the heart. A study published at the American Heart Association in April 2019 argues that exercising approximately 20 to 40 minutes a day can eliminate the health risks associated with sitting all day. You

How much do sedentary people really need to move? It's less than you think

It is said that when you sit for a long time, your back pressure is more likely because the back pressure is higher than when you are standing. In particular, at desk work that uses a PC, the posture tends to deteriorate as the back of a cat becomes folded or a leg is folded, and the burden is increased.

Also, as the foot is called the second heart, humans move blood around the body by moving their feet. As a result, sitting life puts all of the role of blood circulation on the heart, and it is said that the risk of angina pectoris and myocardial infarction is increased because the heart is overloaded.

A research team led by Professor Emmanuel Stamatakis of the University of Sydney has spent more than 45 years of research on 150,000 adults in Australia to investigate how much the risk caused by sitting is offset by exercise. Data was analyzed.

According to the analysis, the group who sat for more than 8 hours a day without exercise did not have an exercise time of 1 hour a day and compared with the group (the best group) who spent a day sitting for 4 hours a day It was found that the risk of death from vascular disease was more than doubled. In addition, it does not mean that 'it's all right if you are not sitting up', and even if you have been sitting for 4 hours or less a day, if your exercise time per week is less than 150 minutes, you have a death risk due to cardiovascular disease. It was found that it was 44 to 60% higher than the optimal group.

Therefore, when the research team replaced 'one hour for sitting' with 'one hour for moderate exercise like gardening and housework', the risk of death from cardiovascular disease decreased by about 20%. The risk of cardiovascular disease decreased by 64% when it was replaced with 'one hour of active exercise such as swimming, aerobics and tennis'.

The research team concludes that about 20 to 40 minutes a day of exercise can be enough to offset the health risks that the life of sitting all day brings. Prof. Stamatakis argued that 'one hour of exercise has been required until now, but from the results we can see that we can do even shorter.'

There is no need to do sports especially in this daily exercise, you can walk quickly consciously, travel using bicycles instead of cars, and climb stairs without using elevators and escalators. It was a little exercise I could do with it.
