Intel sells 5 GHz turbo-driven special CPU 'Core i 9 - 9990 XE' in auction format

AnandTech issued information that Intel plans to release a special model " Core i 9-9990 XE " of 14 cores / 28 threads that drives at a maximum of 5.0 GHz in turbo mode. Core i 9-9990 XE is not commercially available on the general line, only a very small amount will be produced and provided in auction form for some professional use.

AnandTech obtained documents from several sources that support Intel's plans to release a special-purpose CPU called "Core i9-9990XE" as a high-end CPU. This CPU has 14 cores / 28 threads, base clock is 4.0 GHz, turbo clock is 5.0 GHz, TDP is 255 W, DDR 4 memory is supported. Although Core i9-9990XE has fewer cores than the current high-end model " Core i9-9980XE " 18 cores / 36 threads, it is given the position of the top model as indicated by the model number.

As AnandTech points out, Core i9-9990XE can be inferred not as a clock up version of Core i9-9980XE but as a clock-up version of " Core i9-9940X " with the same 14 cores / 28 thread specifications.
