There are all kinds of flames and explosions, presentation of impact shocked with 25 chemistry experiments in 15 minutes TED movie

Chemistry is a discipline to study reactions in which substances change to different substances and states, and it can be chemically explained all that things burn or change color. Scientist's shocking presentation movie loaded with 25 chemistry experiments in 15 minutes in TED has been released at TED.

25 Chemistry Experiments in 15 Minutes | Andrew Szydlo | TEDxNewcastle - YouTube

Dr. Andrew Sidwo of University College London who showed the experiment. British Sidwo who has a roots in Poland is a scientist who has a doctorate in scientific history and scientific philosophy and shows how unconventional experiments are going on.

◆ Experiments 1 to 4: "The color of the liquid in the flask changes"
"Chemistry is a discipline about how substances turn into other substances, and in a common case, Mr. Sidouwo says that by changing the color like this we can see the change in the substance." Is it an alkaline reaction of a phenolphthalein solution? Change the transparent liquid to pink color (1), then turn it back to transparent (2), change it to a deep eye red (3), and finally to transparent again I am returning (4).

◆ Experiments 5 to 9: "The color of the beaker's liquid changes this time"
Next, I changed the more transparent liquid to a more vivid color. The substance being used is unknown, but liquids of yellow (5), orange (6), wine (7), white (8), and light blue (9) are made from the front.

◆ Experiment 10: "Liquid that does not get wet after bathing"
Next is an experiment using liquid nitrogen. Pour liquid nitrogen from a heat insulation bottle into a beaker ... ...

I spread it all over the head like "Eiya".

Then Liquid Nitrogen, of course, fell down to Mr. Shidouwo and felt "Bishaw" and hit the head and clothes directly. However, Mr. Shidouo does not seem to be wet at all (10) because liquid nitrogen evaporates at minus 196 degrees Celsius, evaporating and disappearing quickly at normal temperature.

◆ Experiments 11 to 13: "Volume expands when material evaporates"
The next is an experiment showing that the volume expands greatly when liquid nitrogen boils to gas. Put liquid hydrogen into PET bottle ...

I firmly close the lid. We prepared 3 bottles.

Then put the bottle with the lid closed separately into three trash cans of tin. Liquid nitrogen placed at normal temperature is heated and vaporized quickly, so the pressure in the PET bottle increases steadily. In order to show the situation, Mr. Shidouwo chose the means "to explode PET bottle", but if you explode it as it is judged as dangerous as expected It showed its power by making it explode in the trash box I will give it. The actual situation will be over a little later.

◆ Experiments 14 to 16: "Three states of matter, solid, liquid, gas"
Until the PET bottle bulges to the quinch and explodes, Mr. Shidouo will go to the next experiment. First we pour ordinary water into the beaker ......

I poured liquid nitrogen from above. In the beaker, water of about 20 degrees of water and liquid nitrogen of minus 196 degrees come into contact, water starts to freeze, liquid nitrogen starts to boil. In other words, there are three substances in the beaker at one time: substances in liquid state (14), solid substance in the form of ice (15), and substances in the vapor (16) That is why.

◆ Experiment 17: 'Soft rubber is also getting ticky'
A substance becomes a solid when it freezes, but this is not limited to liquid. Mr. Shidouo took out a tube of rubber that stretches like this in bison.

When putting a rubber tube in a heat-retaining bottle containing liquid nitrogen and trying to freeze ...

Three PET bottles exploded in succession, making a loud noise "Bang!" This indicated that the volume expands greatly when the substance turns into gas. Although the way of counting seems to be backstone, I have completed the experiment of (11) (12) (13) with this.

When I turn my eyes back to the rubber tube, it is soaked in liquid nitrogen so that it is kachinkin (17). It is the state of so-called " striking nails with banana ". When I hit it at the desk as it is, although it is rubber, it broke with Pokin.

◆ Experiment 18: "The volume expands even when the substance freezes"
Experiments have been shown above that the object expands when it vaporizes but the volume becomes larger when it becomes frozen and solid. Water filled with liquid nitrogen in "Experiments 14 to 16" was quickly cooled and frozen, and the beaker became "piss" as the volume became large (18). Mr. Shidouo has on his finger is a piece of beakers broken and fallen.

◆ Experiments 19-20: "The volume decreases when the gas is cooled down, and the volume increases when warmed"
Next, Mr. Shidouo took out a big balloon filled with air.

Mr. Sidouwo pouring liquid nitrogen with Dobadoba from above the balloon. Then ...

The balloon that had become a penpan until that time went through while it was aging.

A balloon that has completely changed and turned wrinkle. However, if exposed to room temperature for a while ... ...

How a few seconds, to the original balloon. In this way, when the whole balloon was cooled with liquid nitrogen, the inner air was cooled and shrunk, the balloon shaved (19), and it turned out that it returns to the original volume when warmed again (20).

◆ Experiment 21: "Materials burn"
Mr. Sidwo sandwiched between pliers is very ordinary cotton.

When I put a cotton on the fire, I burned with Melamela and fire raised. The phenomenon "burning" is chemically expressed as "rapid oxidation".

Combustion increases its intensity by being supplied with oxygen. Next, Mr. Shidouo took out cotton that chemically infiltrated oxygen.

When bringing this cotton close to the fire ... ...

Together with the dazzling light, it made a sound "shubba", cotton burned out in an instant.

◆ Experiment 22: "Ping-pong ball fired by rapid combustion"
When the substance burns suddenly, high pressure occurs. Mr. Shidouo prepares a thin metal cylinder, a small amount of gunpowder, and four ping-pong spheres and puts it in the cylinder.

Fire on the fuse at the bottom of the gun barrel ......

Ping-pong ball was fired with a sound "Bosch" (22). From the cylinder, the flame caused by the rapid combustion of the explosive is blowing out.

◆ Experiment 23: "Burning a fire with a ball filled with hydrogen"
Mr. Shidouo, whose experiment has finally arrived at the calm and the presentation time is getting smaller, has a rash color. When bringing a fire close to a red balloon containing hydrogen ......

Having made a sound "bob fish", hydrogen burned in an instant (23).

◆ Experiment 24: Mixing Hydrogen and Oxygen Burns A Fire on a Balloon Explodes ... Just like the cotton we just said, hydrogen burns violently as oxygen is given. The balloon in the blue one contains gas that mixed hydrogen and oxygen, and bringing the fire here ... ...

Exploded by making a loud noise "Burn!" (24). A cheer from scenes mixed with scream and laughing will occur.

◆ Experiment 25: Ending of Impacts - And the presentation finally to the final chapter. Lastly, the biggest burn (explosion) will have a big circle. Mr. Shidouwo laid the cotton that I used earlier in a container with the cylinder in half, from which to cover the gunpowder.

And bring the torch with fire close ... ...

"Kappa" and a flash of light ran and the biggest sound in the presentation made a big explosion (25).

Mr. Sidwo who accomplished "25 experiments in 15 minutes". The presentation ended with a great cheering from the audience seat and clapping of applause.
