I went to the 'Jump Library' where you can read 50 years of Weekly Shonen Jump for free.

2018 is the 50th anniversary of Weekly Shonen Jump. To commemorate this Memorial Year, the ' Jump Library ' is open for a limited time at Roppongi Hills Cafe / Space. It was a place filled with the history of Weekly Shonen Jump, where you can read most of the jumps from the first issue to the latest issue (14th issue of 2018) released on March 5, 2018 for free.

Hello,

Takuya Suto @ Chariderman, who traveled around the world by bicycle, was born in 1983. 'Dragon Ball,' 'SLAM DUNK,' 'YuYu Hakusho,' and the jumping manga were the royal roads for boys. When I was a boy, there was a place where I could make a time trip.

The nearest station is Roppongi Station on the Tokyo Metro and Toei Subway.

When you enter Roppongi Hills, the place name 'Hillside' on the information board is a landmark.

As I walked, I found a 'jump library'. At the entrance, you will receive an admission card with the admission time from the staff.

◆ Inside layout
Photography was OK at the designated place in the hall.

The back of the bookshelf was also the cover of the jump.

There are many such bookshelves separated by age.

The Jump Library has most of the jumps from the first issue to the latest issue. However, there seems to be some omissions, so I searched for a jump that did not seem to be a jump that Yumi Adachi and Namie Amuro decorated the gravure, but I could not find it. Even if I check with the staff, it seems that there are some omissions, so there may be some circumstances.

◆ Highlights
From Chariderman's point of view, I picked up the things I want to check when I visit the Jump Library.

・ Desk and chair
You can sit in a 'real jump'! A blissful moment to read the jump on a chair made up of 4 books x 12 steps on one side. There is also a desk, the design of the top plate is a page of jump manga, and the legs are also a magazine of jump. In addition, the walls were decorated with real jump pages, and trees-like objects were made by jumping. 'What kind of manga is this page?'

·trivia
'What is the total number of issues from the first issue to the latest issue?' 'What is the height accumulated from the first issue to the latest issue?' 'What is the character that decorated the cover most?' 'What is the longest name character in jump history?' If you know the answer, you will be surprised at the jump trivia posted on the table and bookshelf. Please check it out.

・ Back cover
Like the Dragon Ball books lined up on the bookshelves, recent jumps have become a 'connecting spine' depending on the year. Starting with the dress in 2008, NARUTO in 2009, BLEACH in 2010, Kameari Koenmae police station in Katsushika Ward in 2011, and Gintama in 2014 are on the back cover. The sight of the back cover of the jumps lined up in a row is a masterpiece.

·Visitors
Mom tells her son, 'This is the jump of the year you were born.' Dad continued, 'Dad and mom are longer than jumps,' the power word explodes. I also saw a foreign boyfriend who came with her Japanese girlfriend asking, 'I want to take a closer look.' A woman who was surprised to hear 'Eh!' From 'Homeless Child' by Gataro Man.

Some people have 'Captain Tsubasa', some have 'Dragon Ball', and 'One Piece' ... There are various encounters with jumps, and I have as many memories as there are people. The conversations and actions of such visitors were also quaint.

◆ A mirror that reflects the times
To list the things that left an impression on me personally ...

・ The first color features

the Sanrizuka struggle against the construction of Narita Airport.
・ Shinji Mizushima of 'Dokaben', Shigeru Mizuki of 'GeGeGe no Kitaro', and Fujio Akatsuka of 'Tensai Bakabon' are also serialized in a jump.
-The NES software 'Spelunker' has a review that 'the main character will die soon' from the beginning.
・ A work called 'Rikijin Densetsu -The Successor of the Demon-', in which the young brothers of sumo wrestling play the leading role. The drawing is by Takeshi Obata of 'Hikaru no Go' and 'DEATH NOTE'.
・ The cover page is Ichiro Suzuki of baseball, Ayrton Senna of F1, and Shuwa-chan of Hollywood star.
・ Eiichiro Oda (17 years old at the time) who was selected for the Tezuka Award under the pseudonym of Tsukihimizuki Kondo.
・ The one-shot of Masashi Kishimoto's 'Karakuri', which is a picture of NARUTO but not so.

Even if you haven't selected anything in particular, you can jump into the pages that resonate with your heart. We know the person on the old page, the event now. That's why I have various feelings. I never got tired of it and reached out to magazines one after another.

Time just goes by and cannot be traced back. The Jump Library has become a place where you can visualize the time you have spent so far. It's been 50 years until Jump reaches its 100th anniversary. How will the world change in 50 years? What does it look like in the old days in that strange world? I want to do my best and live longer.

The session is until March 26, 2018 (Monday), and the time is from 11:00 to 23:00. Admission is free.

◆ Jump Exhibition
As with the library, an exhibition is being held to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Jump. In 2017, VOL.1 was held, which was a collection of works from the first issue to the 1980s, such as 'Kinnikuman,' 'Fist of the North Star,' 'Saint Seiya,' and 'City Hunter.' Contents such as VOL.3. This is a paid event that requires a ticket.

Currently, an exhibition of VOL.2 in the 1990s is being held. The three pillars of 'Dragon Ball,' 'SLAM DUNK,' and 'YuYu Hakusho' include 'YuYu Hakusho,' 'Rurouni Kenshin -Meiji Kenkaku Romantan-,' and 'Sexy Commando Gaiden Amazing !! Masaru-san.' Isn't it a strike for someone in their thirties like me?

We also have a collaboration cafe. I'm really curious about 'Krillin's curry'.

This session is until June 17, 2018 (Sun). The venue is the Mori Arts Center Gallery on the 52nd floor of Roppongi Hills Mori Tower, from 10:00 to 20:00. It will be held from 9:00 to 21:00 from April 28th (Sat) to May 6th (Sun).
