Comet probe Rosetta succeeded in the last mission "Comet Fall" and finishes the 12-year mission with Aibo Philae
September 30, 2016, the European Space Agency (ESA) unmanned spacecraft "Rosetta(Rosetta) succeeded in colliding with "67 P / Turimov / Gerasimenco comet" which is the total finish of the 12-year mission. With the comet landing aircraft "Philae", the world's firstLanding on a cometAll the mission accomplished feat such as accomplishment was completed by this.

At 11:19 on September 30, 2016, Greenwich Mean Time, at the time of Japan time, at 20:19 on the same day, we confirmed that the signal from Rosetta ceased at the control center of ESA in Darmstadt, Germany. In response to this, Mr. Sylvain Lodiot, Rosetta's Chief Operating Officer, announced the official end of the mission. At that moment, within the control center, a big applause blew up and the staff quietly hugged and felt each other hugging.
Rosetta said that it hit a comet of Churimov Gerasimenco at a speed of 90 cm per second, approaching at a speed as fast as a human walk and directly colliding. Rosetta is not equipped with a landing gear to ease the impact of the collision, so it is considered that the aircraft was destroyed at the same time as a collision.
A state of the graph showing that the radio wave was lost at the moment of collision is. You can see how things that were raised in the center like mountains changed to flat.

It was that Rosetta and Philae's character existed that was unique in Rosetta's mission. After the mission was completed, the tweets looking back on the past have been posted, talking about "mission accomplishment" in the language of countries around the world.

It is not a comparison with the previous exploration mission because it is characterized together with the great achievement of collecting data toward the elucidation of the mystery of the formation of the solar system by observation which succeeded in the mission of the first humanoid "comet landing" It was a unique part of the mission of Rosetta and Philae that I could emotionally transfer. The following movies that summarize the two-year time of Rosetta until Philae's landing mission and fall to the comet are also must-see.
