850 EVO and 850 PRO are SSDs for individuals, which feature long-term durability and low power consumption during writing, by adopting 3D V-NAND having a three-dimensional structure in NAND flash memory. In the same series there were four types of capacity: 120 GB, 250 GB, 500 GB, 1 TB, but finally a 2 TB model will be newly added. The suggested retail price of the 2 TB model is 800 dollars (about 98,000 yen) for 850 EVO and 1,000 dollars (about 12,200 yen) for 850 PRO.

in the pastSanDiskYaForemay,IntelManufacturers released SSDs with capacity of 2 TB, but none of them are products for data centers, there are practically no 2 TB SSDs in the price range that consumers can purchase. Under such circumstances, Samsung added a 2 TB model to the 850 EVO and 850 PRO series, so it seems to be said that the choice of large capacity SSD for general has expanded widely.

The 850 EVO and 850 PRO are 2.5-inch type SSDs with a thickness of 7 mm, the main difference between both products is that the total write capacity of 850 EVO is 150 TBW at maximum (0.04 TB × 365 days × 10 years = 150 TBW) On the other hand, the 850 PRO is 300 TBW. Also, the 850 EVO will be granted a 5 year long term warranty, but the 850 PRO comes with a 10 year long term warranty.

According to Samsung, both models will be released in 50 countries, but details on which countries will be released in the country is unknown. Also, there is no official announcement regarding the release date, so expectations will be added to the next report.
