A unique ride sense attractive "Sidecar" Various in Tokyo Motorcycle Show 2010
Sidecar (enthusiasts with side cars) with a lot of enthusiastic fans. In Japan there are about 10 manufacturers of side-car manufacturing and installation specialized manufacturers, and that level is highly appreciated overseas. At the Tokyo Motorcycle Show 2010, sidecar was being exhibited at several booths so I asked the story.
Details are below.
Corofi's booth. It seems that we are engaged in development and manufacture of side cars and distributor of products of Watsonian-Squire company taking advantage of long experience.
Yamaha Drag Star and Watsonian-Squire GP 700 simba sidecar. It seems to have been supplied as a genuine parts from Y's Gear in the past.
It is said that installation does not perform processing to change the original frame by bolting on the subframe etc. Since the composition of the steel material that the manufacturer uses for the frame is not publicly announced in general, there seems to be a case where the strength is sometimes dropped in the case of welding or the like.
Bolt on the rear part with a hole in the frame one place. It is also possible to ride as an ordinary single car if you remove and register again.
Rear part. Since it is a motorcycle on license, wearing a seatbelt is optional.
From the usual telescopic fork, it is changed to Earlsfork unique to sidecar. This Earls folk is also being manufactured and sold at Corofi.
This is currently under development Monza 550. Release from Watsonian-Squire brand is planned under Corofi's planning and development.
This is BristolDocks.
GP Jubilee of UK Watsonian Company and old car of BMW.
Explanation board.
The blinker on the left side has been canceled.
The canceled turn signal turns to the fender of the side car in this way.
Here is a lightweight Bristol Dock PassWinder pursuing a sense of running.
Explanation board. It seems that it will be in about 2 to 3 months at installation time only.
Complete model set with motorcycle body is also on sale. Because there are subtle differences in the frame depending on the bike, only the side car parts are not sold. Because the frame of every motorcycle is slightly different, it seems that installation requires deep knowledge on materials and craftsmanship.
Triumph 's set with Bonneville is 2,297 thousand yen. It seems that the set with other cars will be sold according to consultation. In that case it was said that the iron frame car is stronger than the aluminum frame.
Body made mainly of FRP is relatively lightweight and you can enjoy running on the mountain road. Because the characteristics of turning on the left and right are totally different, BristolDock Inc. says that a 2 hour driving course will be held at the time of sale.
With disc brake. At first it will be swayed by the bike, but as soon as you get used to it you will be able to enjoy the small running with the characteristics of the sidecar.
