I tried underwater photography with the series' first toughness digital camera LUMIX "DMC-FT1"

Newly launched on March 6, 2009 Panasonic's compact digital camera "LUMIX" series equipped with the first waterproof / dustproof function, dropped from a height of 1.5 m Toughness digital camera "DMC- FT 1 ".

You can shoot pictures and movies for up to 60 minutes at a depth of 3 m, and you can shoot movies in the AVCHD Lite format suitable for playing on high-definition television, etc. in addition to the Motion JPEG format suitable for playing back movies on a computer or the like.

So, I tried various experiments, such as photographing underwater, to what extent it is actually.

Details are as below.
I shoot "DMC - FT 1" submerged underwater. Although the sound is recorded even in the water, it becomes like a distinctive slightly muffled sound because the way the sound is transmitted is different from that in the air.

A picture taken in the water is like this. The number of effective pixels is 12.1 million pixels. The shutter can be turned off without problems.


Because of the robust nature, the thickness is 23 mm except for the protrusion, and it is gussely with the weight of about 183.8 g (including cards and batteries) combined.


The power switch is located somewhat far apart, so it does not get in the way when cutting the shutter.

The speed from start to shooting becomes like this. To activate it, press and hold the switch for about 1 to 2 seconds, but at the end it is okay just to lightly press it. In order to avoid malfunction, I think it is a little troublesome to start with long press.
