Australia abolished incandescent bulbs
Australian environmental minister Malcolm Turnbull announced that it will gradually reduce incandescent light bulbs with poor energy efficiency in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Now that LEDs and compact fluorescent lamps have developed, it may be possible to completely eliminate incandescent bulbs.

According to Turnbull, it is said that sales of products that do not meet energy standards will be illegal by 2009 or 2010, including incandescent light bulbs. By abolishing incandescent bulbs it seems that Australia's carbon dioxide emissions over the next few years can be reduced to 2 million tons.
By the way, if you change from an incandescent light bulb to a compact fluorescent light, the power consumption will be about 20 to 25% with the same illuminance.
