Damage caused by virus infection in 2006 is doubled, the trend is object oriented

According to a report by Trend Micro, which sells OfficeScan, the number of reports of damage caused by virus infection in Japan has increased to 91,901, compared to 45,208 in 2005. It seems that the virus itself is not a hobbyistic thing to create like Itazura as before but it tends to be used as a means to achieve clear objectives such as money fraud and information fraud .

Details are as below.
Virus infection damage report - 2006 (final version)

This is the top ten reported number of reports by virus type.

Infection reports other than "WORM_STRATION" in 3rd place were collected for spyware, adware, and bot type virus with a clear purpose. Also, in order to escape detection by security software, there are more programs to repeat their uploads over the Internet and the overall picture is complicated.

This is a monthly chart of the number of virus infection damage reports. I understand a lot of the number of reports in fiscal 2006.

According to Trend Micro Corp., the trend of virus damage in FY 2006 is to target the mass mail type worm which intrudes with an English e-mail that pretends to be an error mail from the system, the government office etc., and the name of the company that everyone knows "Zero Day Attack" that attacks uncensored security holes on the distribution date of Microsoft patches that are cheated and sent by Microsoft every month, such as information leaks on the Winny network. In the future it seems that the tendency towards purpose of these malicious programs will be strengthened.

Even viruses that are in the rankings have viruses that can prevent with basic actions such as not clicking suspicious executable files or suspicious English e-mails and attached files, so there are many opportunities for beginners to touch PCs It seems to be one of them.
