Developed "Memory Stick PRO-HG" three times faster than in the past

It is said that it is a new format which further expanded the current Memory Stick PRO developed jointly by Sony and SanDisk. It is said that the transfer speed is 3 times higher than the conventional speed, and achieves a maximum of 480 Mbps (60 MB / s).

According to this release "Memory Stick PRO-HG" is compatible, it can be used with current Memory Stick PRO compatible equipment. The theoretical maximum capacity is 32 GB, and the minimum writing speed seems to be 120 Mbps (15 MB / sec) or 40 Mbps (5 Mb / sec) depending on the equipment.

By the way, media compliant with the "Memory Stick PRO-HG" format will appear in 2007.
