I've actually taken photos and compared the camera performance of Google's smartphones, the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold.

Google's smartphones, the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold, were released on August 20, 2026. All four models in the Pixel 11 series are equipped with the same SoC, and the biggest difference is the performance of the rear camera. The GIGAZINE editorial team managed to get hold of the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold, so we actually took various photos and compared their camera performance.

The specifications for the 'Pixel 11,' 'Pixel 11 Pro,' 'Pixel 11 Pro XL,' and 'Pixel 11 Pro Fold' are as follows. All four models use the same 'Tensor G6' SoC, which determines the processing power of the smartphones. The main differences are the size of the device, the amount of RAM, and the camera performance.

The Pixel 11's rear camera system consists of three lenses: a 48-megapixel wide-angle lens, a 13-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 10.8-megapixel telephoto lens.

The Pixel 11 Pro features a triple-lens setup: a 50-megapixel wide-angle camera, a 48-megapixel ultrawide camera, and a 48-megapixel telephoto camera.

The Pixel 11 Pro Fold has a triple-lens setup: a 48-megapixel wide-angle camera, a 10.5-megapixel ultrawide camera, and a 10.8-megapixel telephoto camera. The wide-angle and telephoto cameras have the same pixel count as the Pixel 11, while the ultrawide camera has the lowest pixel count in the Pixel 11 series.

Note that the Pixel 11 Pro XL's rear camera has the same specifications as the Pixel 11 Pro, so if you are considering purchasing a Pixel 11 Pro XL, you can refer to the sample images from the Pixel 11 Pro in this article.

◆2: Image quality at each zoom magnification
So, I took various photos with the 'Pixel 11,' 'Pixel 11 Pro,' and 'Pixel 11 Pro Fold.' The example photos in this article have been resized to 800 pixels wide; clicking on each photo will show you the original, unreduced image.

First, let's try taking pictures of the same location at different zoom levels. The Pixel 11 series uses the ultrawide camera at 0.5x zoom, the wide-angle camera at 1x zoom, and the telephoto camera at 5x zoom, with other zoom levels being compensated for by digital zoom. Below is a photo taken with the Pixel 11 at 0.5x zoom.

The same location was photographed with a Pixel 11 Pro at 0.5x zoom.

I also took a photo with the Pixel 11 Pro Fold at 0.5x zoom. When shooting outdoors in daylight, there wasn't much difference between the three models.

5x zoom on the Pixel 11.

5x zoom on the Pixel 11 Pro Fold. As expected, in bright daylight outdoors, there isn't a significant difference regardless of the zoom level.

This photo was taken at the Pixel 11's maximum zoom level of 30x. The resulting image is noticeably flawed.

The Pixel 11 Pro can zoom up to 120x. However, the 'Except Bicycles' text on the sign became illegible.

The Pixel 11 Pro Fold has the same maximum zoom as the Pixel 11, at 30x.

The Pixel 11 Pro's 120x zoom is called 'Super Resolution Zoom Pro,' and it uses AI to enhance images. In the example of the sign above, the text failed to be restored and became illegible, but depending on the subject, it can produce a clean result. For example, let's try taking a picture of the Yamato Transport logo in the center of the image below at 120x zoom.

The following is the result of shooting at 120x zoom. As you can see, it can beautifully render flat subjects.

◆3: Macro photography
Let's compare the macro photography capabilities of the Pixel 11 series. This is what it looks like when you get the Pixel 11 as close as possible to the face of Eiichi Shibusawa on the 10,000 yen bill while keeping it in focus.

The Pixel 11 Pro allows you to get quite close.

The Pixel 11 Pro Fold also came quite close.

The following photo was taken with a Pixel 11, getting as close as possible.

With the Pixel 11 Pro, you can get this close.

The Pixel 11 Pro Fold can also get quite close. In macro photography, the Pixel 11 is clearly inferior, with the Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro Fold coming out on top.

◆4: Night photography
We will also compare their shooting performance in low-light conditions. We took a photo of a road at night with the Pixel 11.

Shot with a Pixel 11 Pro. Click to see the full-size image and you'll notice that it captures details much more clearly compared to the Pixel.

This is what it looks like on the Pixel 11 Pro Fold.

I took a photo of a different location with my Pixel 11.

◆5: Food photography
I photographed Dal Bhat at

I took a photo of tandoori chicken with my Pixel 11. It came out a little washed out.

With the Pixel 11 Pro, I was able to capture colors that were very close to what I remember seeing with my own eyes.

This is what it looks like on the Pixel 11 Pro Fold.

I took this photo of chicken with a Pixel 11, getting close to the meat. The depth of field is shallow, so everything except the center is blurred.

With the Pixel 11 Pro, the focus was sharp all the way to the edges.

Even the Pixel 11 Pro Fold can focus all the way to the edges.

◆6: Summary
A comparison of the camera performance of the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold revealed no significant difference in daylight outdoors, and even in low light conditions, the difference was not noticeable when viewed on a small smartphone screen. However, the Pixel 11's performance was noticeably inferior in macro photography and food photography in dimly lit restaurants.

Following our camera performance test, we'll be publishing a review article soon that will cover benchmark scores and battery life, so stay tuned!
