Claude in Chrome is now generally available to Claude paid plan users. With Claude in Chrome, Claude can operate autonomously without requiring authorization for any actions within the browser. Robust safety and security measures are also in place, with a safety classifier verifying whether each action matches the user's instructions before execution, ensuring consistency with the request.

While Claude

integrates with a variety of tools , there are many tools it does not integrate with, such as internal dashboards, legacy systems, and vendor portals.

Using Claude in Chrome, you can perform various operations on websites that don't officially offer integration with Claude, such as 'viewing pages,' 'reading and writing text,' 'clicking links,' 'navigating between pages,' and 'filling out forms,' using your existing login information.

Allowing AI to control a browser raises safety and security concerns, necessitating stronger protective measures. Therefore, Anthropic has implemented several defenses in Claude in Chrome, such as 'probes' that scan content before Claude loads a page to detect potentially dangerous instructions.

By implementing probes and security classifiers, Claude Sonnet 5, Claude Opus 5, and Claude Fable 5 have successfully reduced the success rate of prompt injection attacks to 0%.

Claude in Chrome can be installed from the Chrome Web Store. There were apparently issues with the beta version, as its rating at the time of writing was '2.8'.
