NVIDIA unveiled its AI for self-driving cars, ' Alpamayo 2 Super ,' on August 4, 2026, local time. Alpamayo 2 Super can determine its course by inferring its surroundings based on cameras mounted on the vehicle.

Alpamayo 2 Super is a reinforcement learning model based on the Cosmos3 Super inference model, capable of inferring surrounding conditions based on data from cameras mounted on the front, sides, and rear of the vehicle. By referencing cameras in all directions, it can gain a deep understanding of high-risk situations such as lane changes, merging, intersections without traffic lights, and complex intersections. Furthermore, the model has 34 billion parameters, more than three times the size of the previous generation, enabling it to derive complex inferences even from coarse data.
In the demo video posted by NVIDIA, examples of situational responses are shown, such as 'applying the brakes because a person appears from behind a parked vehicle' and 'applying the brakes in preparation for a person suddenly appearing because a ball is rolling.'
The graph below shows the results of 'LingoQA,' an AI-powered autonomous driving capability test using image recognition. Alpamayo 2 Super achieved the highest score in the industry.
