Methods such as individualized instruction, differentiated instruction based on proficiency levels, and small-group instruction have been shown to be highly effective in improving students' academic performance. However, teachers currently lack the time and resources to implement these methods. Budgets are tight, and class sizes are often too large, making it difficult to address the individual needs of each student.

Claude for Teachers was developed to help teachers facing this situation. Early evidence suggests that the effects of AI tools on students are inconsistent, and their effectiveness depends heavily on how they are implemented. On the other hand, AI tools for teachers are suggested to have the potential to enhance teaching methods and improve student learning outcomes. Therefore, Anthropic explains that it offers Claude for Teachers as a technology that supports excellent education.

Claude for Teachers partners with Learning Commons , an educational initiative aimed at building AI infrastructure, and has access to educational standards from all 50 US states. Each standard includes the learning content that comprises it and the order in which students typically learn it. Therefore, when Claude creates lesson plans, they are structured step-by step and aligned with educational standards.

Claude for Teachers incorporates trusted curricula such as OpenSciEd , an American non-profit organization that designs and distributes open-source science materials for students from kindergarten through high school, and Illustrative Mathematics IM v.360 , an open-source mathematics curriculum developed with the goal of creating a world where all children can understand, use, and enjoy mathematics.

In addition, the following education-related ecosystems are integrated with Claude for Teachers:

ASSISTments : Can generate standard-compliant math problems with automatic scoring functionality.
Brisk Teaching : A tool that allows you to create interactive student activities and lessons that comply with educational standards, turning ideas into ready-to-use classroom materials in seconds.
Canva Education : A tool that transforms lesson materials into ready-to-use classroom designs and interactive learning experiences.
Coteach : A tool that allows you to create high-quality mathematical diagrams based on the curriculum from kindergarten to high school.
Diffit : Allows you to create teaching materials for all students.
Eedi Labs : Enables the creation of diagnostic questions in both English and Spanish that go beyond simply determining correctness, aiming to reveal students' thinking processes and deepen their understanding.
MagicSchool : A tool for creating educational content that can be used immediately in the classroom.
Snorkl : Allows you to gain insights into lessons, assignments, and student progress, and use them to improve your teaching.
TeachFX : A tool that provides personalized instructional feedback based on conversations during lessons.

Claude for Teachers includes Claude Code and Cowork, allowing Claude to work autonomously. For example, it can analyze lesson data to create lesson plans or schedule recurring tasks and let Claude handle them. A video explaining Claude for Teachers, created by a teacher who has already used it, has also been released.
