Claude for Teachers, a teacher-focused version of Claude, has been released, allowing users to generate teaching materials according to their curriculum.



On July 14, 2026, local time, AI startup Anthropic announced ' Claude for Teachers .' Claude for Teachers is an AI designed for certified educators in the United States, from kindergarten through high school, and will provide free access to Claude's premium features, educational skills library, and evidence-based curricula that comply with the academic standards of all 50 US states.

Methods such as individualized instruction, differentiated instruction based on proficiency levels, and small-group instruction have been shown to be highly effective in improving students' academic performance. However, teachers currently lack the time and resources to implement these methods. Budgets are tight, and class sizes are often too large, making it difficult to address the individual needs of each student.

Claude for Teachers was developed to help teachers facing this situation. Early evidence suggests that the effects of AI tools on students are inconsistent, and their effectiveness depends heavily on how they are implemented. On the other hand, AI tools for teachers are suggested to have the potential to enhance teaching methods and improve student learning outcomes. Therefore, Anthropic explains that it offers Claude for Teachers as a technology that supports excellent education.

Claude for Teachers partners with Learning Commons , an educational initiative aimed at building AI infrastructure, and has access to educational standards from all 50 US states. Each standard includes the learning content that comprises it and the order in which students typically learn it. Therefore, when Claude creates lesson plans, they are structured step-by step and aligned with educational standards.

Claude for Teachers incorporates trusted curricula such as OpenSciEd , an American non-profit organization that designs and distributes open-source science materials for students from kindergarten through high school, and Illustrative Mathematics IM v.360 , an open-source mathematics curriculum developed with the goal of creating a world where all children can understand, use, and enjoy mathematics.

Claude for Teachers is intended exclusively for educators, in accordance with Claude's policy of restricting users to those 18 years of age and older. It also includes separate terms of use for teachers aimed at protecting the privacy of students from kindergarten through high school. Claude for Teachers data is not used to train AI models, and student information is protected by K-12 data processing supplemental clauses created in compliance with FERPA .

Furthermore, Anthropic has collaborated with Teach for America to develop and publish a course on using AI in educational settings, which allows users to learn how to utilize AI tools like Claude for Teachers in educational environments.
