Chinese robot manufacturer UBTech has unveiled the 'UWorld U1' series of humanoid robots, featuring realistic silicone skin and emotional AI, and capable of reproducing the voices of real people.

UBtech Robotics , a robotics manufacturer based in Guangdong Province, China, officially unveiled the ' UWORLD U1' series, the world's first full-size biomimetic humanoid robot designed for mass production, at its global launch event held on July 1, 2026. According to the company, the UWORLD U1 is equipped with AI and is designed to recognize and respond to 'subtle emotional changes,' acting as a companion that responds naturally to interactions with humans.

UBTech positions the UWORLD U1 as a solution to loneliness and social isolation, intending it to be deployed in individual homes rather than as an industrial or corporate robot. According to the announcement, the UWORLD U1 is built on an integrated technological platform developed in-house, from hardware to AI, including a silicon biomimetic skin, embodied intelligent hardware, an operating system, an 'emotion-driven large-scale language model (LLM),' and an integrated manufacturing system for the entire system. This integrated architecture is designed to address long-standing challenges in deploying humanoid robots in the real world.

UBtech Robotics states that the UWORLD U1 features a unique 'dual-pivot biomimetic cervical spine' that can replicate basic human neck movements with up to 90% accuracy. Furthermore, its biomimetic architecture, combining a 'high-speed brain' and a 'low-speed brain,' is based on cognitive neuroscience principles and enables a fast and intuitive response system of 500 milliseconds, along with advanced inference capabilities using a model with tens of billions of parameters. In addition, its biomimetic facial expression control system, driven by a proprietary controller, reduces the delay between voice and mouth movements to within 20 milliseconds, creating an incredibly realistic interaction experience.

Furthermore, according to UBTech, the robot will use 3D facial reconstruction and voice cloning technology to recreate the appearance and voice of a specific person.

Regarding privacy, UBTech states that UWORLD U1 emphasizes the principle of 'users managing their own data.' It is designed to minimize reliance on the cloud and has a three-tiered privacy architecture consisting of user-controllable hardware protection features.

The UWORLD U1 comes in two versions: the lightweight half-body 'U1 Lite' for 119,800 yuan (approximately 2.8 million yen) and the full-body 'U1 Pro' for 169,800 yuan (approximately 4 million yen). The 'U1 Ultra' is priced at 990,000 yuan (approximately 23 million yen) for the male model and 880,000 yuan (approximately 21 million yen) for the female model. In addition to the plan to provide 100 UWORLD U1s free of charge by the end of 2026, it has been reported that the company has already received approximately 11,000 to 13,000 pre-orders.
