Claude's support page includes a help page titled '

Identity Verification on Claude, ' which explains that you can use 'passport,' 'driver's license or state/national ID card,' or 'national ID card' as proof of identity.

It has also been revealed that the '

Checking the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine reveals that a help page titled 'Verifying your identity on Claude' already existed around April 15, 2026. Additionally, a Reddit post from April 16, 2026, states that 'when trying to upgrade an Anthropic account, I was asked for identity verification, and when I refused, my paid plan became unusable.' It's unclear which users Anthropic requests identity verification from, but the user in question was reportedly developing a 'health and wellness-related B2C app.'
