OpenAI submitted a draft of its registration statement (S-1 registration statement) privately, designating it as 'confidential,' and announced the submission on its website, stating that 'there is a high possibility of information leakage.' The timing of the listing has not yet been decided, and OpenAI stated that 'it may take some time, as there are things that can be more easily accomplished as a private company.'
The fact that it was filed privately means that some of the details that would normally be available through this form, such as executive compensation, potential risks to the company's business, and other financial information, have not yet been made public.
About a week prior to this, Anthropic, the developer of 'Claude,' had filed a draft S-1 filing, revealing that it was preparing for an IPO. At the time of its most recent funding round, Anthropic's post-funding valuation reached $965 billion (approximately 154.6 trillion yen), surpassing OpenAI's latest post-funding valuation of $852 billion (approximately 136.5 trillion yen), making it the world's most valuable startup.

On the same day that it published its draft proposal, OpenAI also announced its concept of 'automated AI researchers.' According to the company, OpenAI has three main goals: 'to build automated AI researchers,' 'to create opportunities for everyone to enjoy the benefits generated by AI,' and 'to create personal general artificial intelligence (AGI) for everyone on Earth,' and that it has entered the third stage towards achieving these goals.

The first step towards achieving their goal was conducting research on AGI (Advanced General Intelligence), and the second step was translating OpenAI research into product development that proved useful in the real world. The third step, which is about to begin, will focus on how to make advanced AI abundant, affordable, secure, and easily accessible to all individuals and organizations.
The automated AI researchers offered at this stage will be AI systems that can accelerate and automate the research process itself while maintaining collaboration with humans and human control. The company believes that by March 2028, 'a significant portion of the research will be conducted by AI systems in collaboration with our own researchers.' OpenAI stated, 'We are convinced that in order to fully advance collaboration, AI needs to iterate with us. This will allow us to smoothly transition to the post-AGI world and jointly determine the path to the future.'
