X has drastically reduced the daily posting limit for unverified (free) users from 2400 to 50.

For users using X for free, certain actions are restricted for the purpose of 'ensuring reliability.' It has recently been revealed that the daily limit on posts has been reduced from the previous 2400 to 50. A separate limit is set for replies, with a limit of 200 per day.

X Accounts Are Limited To 50 Posts And 200 Replies A Day Unless They Pay For A Blue Checkmark

X's official help page includes information about restrictions. As of May 19, 2026, it states that for posts, 'unverified accounts are limited to 50 original posts and 200 replies per day.' This restriction is further broken down into 30-minute intervals, so a rough guideline would be '5-6 posts every 30 minutes.'

In the archives retrieved as of May 5, 2026, the limit on the number of posts was '2400 per day,' and there was no distinction based on the account.

There was no announcement about the changes from official accounts or elsewhere, and users who hit the limit raised suspicions that 'something had been changed.' Subsequently, it was discovered that the help page had been rewritten.

This change to the posting limit may have been implemented as a measure against spam and bots, but there are many cases of spam accounts operating as verified users, so it's uncertain whether this will be an effective measure.

Please note that the posting limit is removed for X Premium users. The cheapest plan is the Basic plan, which costs 368 yen per month or 3916 yen per year.
