Desktop versions of Google apps for Windows are now available worldwide.



Google has released the Google app for Windows worldwide. Not only will you have access to Google Search anytime, anywhere, but you can also search for files and applications on your PC all from within the Google app.

On April 14, 2026, local time, Google launched the desktop version of the Google app (English version). This is a Google app for PCs, and by pressing the shortcut key (Alt + Space), a search box will appear, allowing you to search for anything and everything anytime, anywhere.



The Google app allows you to search a wide range of information, including web information, files saved on your PC, installed apps, and files stored in Google Drive, offering a broader search scope than the browser version of Google Search.

Additionally, the Google app includes

Google Lens , allowing you to quickly search images and text displayed on the screen.



The Google app has an AI mode, so you can ask it anything you're curious about, and the AI will provide helpful answers.



Rajan Patel, Google's Vice President of Engineering, also posted on his X (formerly Twitter) account: 'The upgraded Google Apps for desktop are now available worldwide for English-speaking Windows users. You can find what you need instantly with a simple keyboard shortcut (Alt + Space). You can search for information from the web, as well as files on your computer, installed apps, and even files in Google Drive—all from the search box. Search and Lens have an AI mode built in, so you can ask anything that comes to mind or search what's on your screen and get helpful answers with web links.'
