Alexa+ is a generative AI that Amazon announced at the end of February 2025. Unlike the voice assistant Alexa, it is equipped with various large-scale language models (LLMs) and agent functions. Alexa+ can perform tasks that were previously impossible with Alexa, such as asking it to notify you when a sale on a product you like goes on, booking a ride with Uber, searching for tickets to a game or concert through Ticketmaster, and helping friends and family choose gifts based on keywords they find interesting.

Alexa+ builds on Alexa, but takes it a step further by making it smarter, more conversational, and more personalized.
According to Amazon, feedback from early access users showed that Alexa+ was perceived as a completely separate entity from Alexa, and in fact, users were using Alexa+ in completely different ways than Alexa.
'Specifically, users are increasingly streaming music recommended by Alexa+ and engaging in deeper conversations about discography, genres, and artists. They're also engaging in deeper conversations, resolving dinner arguments with simple questions, exploring complex topics, and discussing the day's news. Because Alexa+ remembers context, these conversations can sometimes last for days.'
Customers are also using Alexa+ in more places, chatting on the go with the Alexa app, and doing deeper research, planning, and content creation via Alexa.com. As a result, customers are using Alexa+ more than twice as often as Alexa.

To encourage more users to use Alexa+, Amazon has announced that it will make it available to all users in the United States.
Alexa+ is free for Prime members and available on Alexa-enabled devices, Alexa.com, the Alexa app, etc. Other users can use it for $19.99 (approximately 3,100 yen) per month.
In addition, non-Prime customers can now chat with Alexa+ for free on Alexa.com and in the Alexa app. This means you can use the text-based chat interface to get quick answers, plan, research, and explore new topics. Free users will have limited access to Alexa+ based on their usage.
Prime members can easily use Alexa+ by simply saying to Alexa, 'Upgrade to Alexa+.'
