Google has been working on developing a world model that can create virtual worlds for some time, and in August 2025, the 'Genie 3' released extended the exploration time from a few seconds to a few minutes.

'Project Genie' is a web app that combines the world model 'Genie 3' with the image generation AI ' Nano Banana Pro ' and ' Gemini 3, ' allowing users to directly experience the immersive experience of the world model.

The three key points are 'World sketching,' 'World exploration,' and 'World remixing.'

Worlds are created using text prompts and uploaded images. World Sketching integrates with Nano Banana Pro, allowing you to preview and fine-tune the appearance of the generated world before entering it. You can also control how you experience the world by defining whether you enter it from a first- or third-person perspective.

The generated world is 'ready to be explored' and generates a path forward in real time as you move, allowing you to adjust the camera as you traverse the world.

You can also remix existing worlds to bring a new interpretation to them. Once you're done, you can download videos of the world you've created and how you explore it.

Project Genie is an experimental research prototype from Google Labs that is based on Genie 3. Because Genie 3 is still an early research model, there is room for improvement, such as the generated world not strictly following the laws of physics in the real world or reduced character control.

Generation time is 60 seconds, and features such as 'changing the world by entering prompts while exploring,' which were mentioned when Genie 3 was announced, have not yet been implemented.

Access to 'Project Genie' will initially be available to 'Google AI Ultra' users aged 18 or older residing in the United States, with plans to expand the service to more regions in the future.
