Google's plans to merge ChromeOS and Android in the future were reported in July 2025 based on testimony from a Google executive.

And now, during the CEO keynote at Snapdragon Summit 2025, the integration of ChromeOS and Android was officially discussed.

'Until now, there have always been very different systems between what we build for PCs and what we build for smartphones,' Osterloh said. 'We've embarked on a project to unify that. Together, we're building a common technology foundation for our products for PCs and desktop computing systems.'
Osterloh said the new OS will maintain the Chrome OS user experience while migrating its underlying technology to Android. He added that the goal of this integration is to bring Android's advanced AI technologies, including Google's Gemini AI model, to laptops, enabling seamless integration between PCs and the rest of the Android ecosystem.

Amon praised the device, saying, 'I've seen it and it's incredible. It realizes the vision of combining mobile and PC,' and expressed his excitement to get one himself soon.

Qualcomm also announced its next-generation Arm chips for Windows PCs, the Snapdragon X2 Elite and Elite Extreme, at the Snapdragon Summit 2025, and it's possible that Android for PCs will target devices equipped with these chips.
