There have been rumors that the Trump administration is considering investing in Intel, whose performance has been sluggish. It has now been revealed that the US government has actually invested in Intel and acquired shares.

President Trump announced that the U.S. government would acquire a 10% stake in Intel, writing that the deal was 'negotiated with Intel's esteemed CEO, Lip-Vu Tan.' Just two weeks earlier, Trump had called for Tan's immediate resignation .


Secretary of Commerce Lutnick also posted on X, 'This historic agreement strengthens American leadership in the semiconductor industry, helping to grow the American economy and secure our technological advantage. Thank you, Intel.'


Meanwhile, Intel CEO Lip-Vu Tan posted on Twitter that after meeting with President Trump, the company has secured an $8.9 billion investment from the government, saying, 'We look forward to our next steps to ensure that tomorrow's cutting-edge silicon technologies and computing products are designed and manufactured right here in America.'
