n8n is a startup founded in Berlin in 2019. It is open and self-hosted, and can be used completely free of charge for personal, non-commercial, and internal business purposes. The UI is intuitive and easy to use, with nodes connected together, allowing you to automate processes without the need for tedious coding.

n8n introduced AI in 2022, enabling it to build automated processes using natural language. It was not used at all at first, but it grew rapidly due to the trend of using AI in business operations, and since introducing AI, its revenue has increased fivefold.

With this growth as a backdrop, n8n has successfully secured 55 million euros in Series B funding. This funding round was led by investment firm Highland Europe, with investment from Berlin venture capital firm HV Capital and the US's Sequoia Capital. n8n said it will use this funding to continue investing in technology and to expand its business in the US, where more than half of its users reside.

TechCrunch, a technology media outlet, points out that n8n's reputation has grown through its close association with the concept of 'fair code.' According to TechCrunch, fair code is an evolution of open source, where 'software developers can use open source code for free, but there is a principle of compensating open source creators and communities if they want to commercialize code-based apps.' Jan Oberhauser, founder and CEO of n8n, came up with this idea and created n8n, which specializes in fair code.

Regarding the introduction of AI into these products, CEO Oberhauser said, 'We saw AI coming for us. We had no choice but to build it into our products. Users don't want to write 50 lines of code to integrate, for example, a function to send an email. Now they can build it in natural language by just saying, 'Get information from X and send it to Y.' We see value in being able to easily build automated processes.'

'It took a while for the market to catch up with AI, but today, about 75% of all n8n customers use AI tools,' Oberhauser said, emphasizing the company's successful implementation of AI.
