On Monday, March 24, 2025, the FBI announced that it had launched a special investigation team to catch the perpetrators of arson attacks on Tesla vehicles and charging stations. President Trump has also proposed sending those who repeatedly vandalize Tesla to El Salvador to serve 20 years in prison.
The FBI is investigating an anarchist blog run by a Salt Lake City, Utah, spy agency, and is also tracking a planned demonstration of 500 people at a Tesla showroom and charging station on March 29.
Rob Chadwick, a former FBI supervisory special agent and director of education and training for the gun owners group Concealed Carry Association, told The Washington Post, 'These attacks clearly meet the FBI's definition of domestic terrorism. We're talking about coordinated acts of violence motivated by ideological beliefs -- environmental, political or social -- that target specific businesses. The FBI defines domestic terrorism as violent criminal acts committed by individuals or groups within the United States that are motivated by ideological goals and that intimidate or coerce civilians or influence government policy.'
