According to Chris Bumbray, CEO of movie news and review website JoBlo , some titles from dozens of DVD box sets released by Warner Bros. in the mid-2000s have become completely unplayable.

The first time this happened was with ' The Transoceanic Bomber Squadron ,' and the disc stopped working an hour after it was played. Then it happened again with ' Panama Blind Spot ,' so he bought a new UHD player. However, when he tried to watch ' The Man Who Runs Through the Battlefield ' with the new player, the same problem occurred again, so he searched the Internet and found that other people had reported similar problems.

The report said that 'almost all Warner Bros. DVDs manufactured between 2006 and 2008 have become inoperable due to aging.' The phenomenon in which DVDs deteriorate is known as 'laser rot,' in which the metal layer corrodes, and it is estimated that millions of Warner Bros. DVDs are affected.

In response to these complaints, Warner Bros. provided JoBlo with the following statement: 'Warner Bros. Home Entertainment is aware of potential issues with some DVD titles manufactured between 2006 and 2008 and is actively working with consumers to replace the defective discs. Whenever possible, the defective discs will be exchanged for the same title. However, some of the affected titles are no longer in production or are out of stock and therefore these titles are being offered for exchange for titles of equal value.'

Technology media Ars Technica points out that 'if properly maintained, DVDs can last 30 to 100 years.'

As film enthusiast and YouTuber Damn Fool Idealistic Crusader points out , the problem is occurring at Cinram 's manufacturing plant in Olyphant, Pennsylvania, with DVDs produced roughly between 2006 and 2009.

Affected titles are summarized on the page below.
