'DOOM CAPTCHA' review: an authentication system that cannot prove you are human unless you defeat three enemies in 'DOOM'

DOOM, an early FPS game that has been popular since its release in 1993, has been released as an authentication system. I played DOOM on my browser and tried out the DOOM CAPTCHA, which requires you to defeat three enemies before you can prove you're human.

Use the up and down arrow keys to move forward and backward, use the left and right arrow keys to move the viewpoint left and right, and use the Alt key + left and right arrow keys to move left and right while maintaining the viewpoint. Use the space bar to fire your gun.

You win if you defeat three enemies, but if you just charge forward blindly you'll quickly die from concentrated fire from a man with a gun and a monster locked in a cage.

Since the goal is not to move forward, the safest and easiest strategy is to 'shoot a gun at the starting point to lure out the enemies and kill three of them without moving much.' Monster attacks cannot reach the starting point, and human attacks can withstand a few shots even if they hit you.

When you clear it, you will see the message 'CAPTCHA solved! Try again.' At first, you will be confused by the old-fashioned controls and the barrage of bullets, but after a few tries, you will be able to get through the authentication in just a few seconds. There seems to be only one type of map or weapon, and the same scene will be displayed no matter how many times you try again.

Please note that if you run out of bullets, you will have to fight back with your bare hands.

You can press the F1 key to display help. According to the help, you can switch to a different weapon by pressing the number keys, but unfortunately I was only able to confirm '1' for bare hands and '2' for a pistol.

The map seems to be quite large, but since the game ends immediately if you defeat three enemies and it is almost impossible to advance without defeating enemies, it was difficult to get a grasp of the entire map.

If it were actually implemented as an authentication system, it might be possible to prove that you are a gamer in addition to being human.
